Sad

Dear Friends,

The start of 2007 has been very sad for our family. On Saturday January 6 my sister Hilly (Helen) passed away. Although she had been ill & in pain for many years her death came as a shock.

When I last spoke to Hilly on December 26 we said we'd be talking again on New Year's Day - that was not to be. Early in the morning of December 29 she had trouble getting up from the couch and called her daughter-in-law who immediately came over. She needed medical attention & was taken to the hospital where at first she seemed to improve and was in good spirits. Wednesday she suddenly took a turn for the worse as she had developed an infection in her lungs and from that point on things went downhill quickly. By Friday there was no longer any hope of recovery and early Saturday morning she passed away.

I am so very thankful that DH & I were able to fly to Thunder Bay, Ontario to attend her funeral this past Thursday and be with her children (her husband had passed away in 1991) and their families as well as our oldest sister. Although our brother was unable to attend he was with us all in spirit as well as in many telephone conversations.

Hilly will be sadly missed but the memories of a sweet & loving sister will stay with me forever.
