Oma-Anna Potholders

This is actually a project from last month.

It's a potholder created by combining the patterns of two very old ones which had been made by my mother (thus Oma which is Dutch for grandma) and R's tante Anna. They're very handy because they're nice and long so you only need one. They have a slit in the middle which goes over the nob on the lid of the pan so that it won't fall off when you're pouring out hot liquid. I've made them from 100% cotton so that there won't be any fire danger. Front and back are knit separately and then crocheted together. I love the knitting but find I'm always happy when the crocheting is finished.

Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt

Since this is the project which led me to the world of 'blogging stitchers' it's the first one I want to share with you.

This is my first attempt at quilting and I felt I should limit myself in the number of flowers I'll be making so that the task does not seem endless. I'm planning to make 9 of each color. Originally I planned to make all the hearts white but came across the frogs and thought that might be a nice touch. Rather than making a white path around the flowers I'm planning green. Up till now I haven't been able to find the right green but that doesn't really matter as there are still many flowers to be made.

My Blog is Born!!!!

A few weeks ago while surfing the web to find some information about 'Grandmothers Flower Garden' quilts I discovered the world of stitching blogs. I came across Melissa's information about her GFG as well as all her other wonderful projects. From there it was on to other stitching blogs where I was thrilled to see how many people have the same hobbies I do.

From that moment on I've been planning to start my own blog and just as with the birth of a child started thinking about a name. Yesterday when we were watching 'Deal Or No Deal' my husband suddenly suggested: 'Stitch Or No Stitch' and suddenly my blog was born.

The next time I write I'll let you see what I've been working on this month.
