"Who is John Galt?"

Won't you join me in reading the second most influential book in America? A book whose influence is rated second only to the Bible.

For years I have been hearing about this book which was written in 1957 and is considered to be Ayn Rand's magnum opus.

Atlas Shrugged received largely negative reviews after its 1957 publication but achieved enduring popularity and consistent sales in the following decades.

In the late 2000s it once again caught everyone's attention and I recently bought this tome to discover its significance for myself.

Won't you join me in the quest to find out "Who is John Galt?"

Note to self - added October 29, 2010

Till the end of the year concentrate on RYOB (reading your own books). It worked several years ago when I planned five books in advance and stuck to my list. It is time to do this again, especially since I have promised to write four reviews.

The five books are:

'Pieta' - William Zink

'Cynthia's Attic: The Missing Locket' - Mary Cunningham

'Atlas Shrugged' Ayn Rand
'Anne's House of Dreams' - L.M. Montgomery

'The Secret of the Wooden Lady' - Carolyn Keene

Ain't she sweet?

Oh ain't she sweet, well see her walking down that street.
Yes I ask you very confidentially: Ain't she sweet?
Oh ain't she nice, well look her over once or twice.
Yes I ask you very confidentially: Ain't she nice?

'Wynter Sampler' by Witchy Stitches
stitched 2/2 on Natural Belgian Linen with DMC floss

Just cast an eye in her direction.
Oh me oh my, ain't that perfection?
Oh I repeat, well don't you think that's kind of neat?
Yes I ask you very confidentially: Ain't she sweet?

Ghoulfriends and Spider Web Birdie

Earlier this year Harmien and I decided to do a Halloween exchange. I love to pick patterns that I think will fit the people they are for and having gotten to know Harmien while we were living in The Netherlands was certainly an advantage when picking not only the Halloween pattern but also a few Halloween extras.

My part of the exchange consisted of a pinkeep, some Halloween floss and purple Halloween socks with black cats on them. For me this was all so Harmien and I'm pleased that she liked it.

Ghoulfriends for Eternity
from the 2010 Cross-Stitch Pattern-A-Day Calendar
stitched 1/1 on 25 ct New Khaki Lugana with DMC floss

From Harmien I received this great gift. First of all take a look at the fab Spider Web Birdie she made for me. Isn't it tooo cute!!

Along with that she also sent me a matching spider web kleenex holder, Halloween gift tags and a fabulous pattern by Witchy Stitches called 'Wynter Sampler'. Even though I have my hands full with the stitching projects I want finished by the end of the year I just couldn't resist starting it immediately. I have the perfect weathered little wooden tray I bought last year in which I hope to display it.

What a fun exchange Harmien. Thank you!!
